Dennis is one of the top property experts in the country. He set up his own business, Heritage Homes, and bought, renovated and sold over 400 houses in the North West of England.
What is interesting is that he started with no money of his own, just with a loan from a bank! Before too long, and a few houses renovated and sold on, the bank were tripping over themselves to lend him money. However by that time he had build up sufficient money to run the company financially himself.
"When I started my property career, I was nervous. I knew, from my experience of being an Estate Agent, that a fortune could be made from property investment, and in particular, from renovating houses.
But I didn’t have enough cash of my own to buy a property or to cover the building costs, so I went cap-in-hand to the local bank manager. He was happy with my detailed costings, and we both made money from my first property!
My training in property negotiation was put to good use. I used this skill to buy my first properties at very low prices!
As a young man I was trained as a plumber with a reputable firm in Bristol. I was also taught the skills of bricklaying and plastering by master craftsmen. This knowledge was invaluable when dealing with tradesmen.
With profits soaring sky-high, my company bought, renovated and sold over 400 houses! With a reputation for excellent standards, buyers were queuing up, anxious to snap up my next completed home.

Yet I know how scary it can be. I have been through all the fears of what if I pay too much for a house? What if I buy and it falls down? What if the house has dry rot, subsidence, decaying roof? What if when I buy no one wants to rent?
All unwarranted fears! The houses rented within weeks, one even went before we had advertised it, we have a rent war going on with one couple outbidding another!
We now have an apartment in Spain which again has always been a dream of mine. To own a holiday home where I can winter away and avoid the bad weather at home. Holidays lets provide the income and I have a place to go to when I want to escape!
