I hope things are going fabulously for you in your translation business, whether you’re shooting for success as a freelance translator or have set your sights on finding that perfect in-house freelance gig.
It’s not always easy and I’ll be the first one to tell anyone that who’s interested in becoming a translator. But just because a goal isn’t easy doesn’t mean it’s not worth working towards.
In fact, sometimes it seems that the harder the path, the more rewarding the end goal. At least that’s how it was for me.
I know that sometimes it’s easy to want to look for that "secret ingredient" that can automatically turn you into a successful translator.
But you know what does exist? Some of my thoughts, techniques, and resources that I’ve compiled over the years that can help you on your translation journey.

You know from my writing on Spanish Translation Help that more than once I’ve suggested that you stay away from online translation job boards that pay less than peanuts.
The alternative to that, then, is to seek out people that know and value translators for the service they provide. And most translation agencies fit into that category.
The difficult thing, then, for translators, is hunting down these agencies in order to submit resumes and the like.
I spent a good portion of four months putting together this directory of over 500 translation agencies throughout the world that are looking for translators in nearly every language combination out there.
For each listing, I’ve included the name of the company along with an active link to the company’s website (and specifically the "contact us" page if one was available.
The best thing about the Guide is that it’s easy to use. All you have to do is go through it one agency at a time, click on the link and see what the agency needs from you as a freelance translator.
I would even suggest that before you start perusing the agencies, have a digital copy of your translation resume handy so you can go ahead and upload it or include it with your application to any or all of the agencies listed.
